Vincent is a member of my golf club. He is 73, and finding life increasingly difficult because of arthritis in both knees. He is a keen golfer, but has not been able to play golf without a buggy for five years.
Vincent was due to have surgery for two artificial knees when disaster struck. Just before the operation he broke his foot, and so surgery was cancelled. He was distraught, and in desperation followed the advice of a friend.
The advice was to soak golden sultanas in gin, and eat nine a day. Unbelievably, but I assure you this is a true story, after one month he was pain-free, and now walks 18 holes of golf several times a week.
If you search the internet you will discover thousands of similar stories. I have no clue how or why this works, but I just wonder whether it might be the juniper in the gin?
If you are tempted to experiment with the sultanas and/or other ingredients please check with your doctor or health professional first. Just as with any other food or drug, adverse side-effects and interactions are possible.
