This week The European published an article where I interview Chris Moorman, an English professional poker player who has earned over $34 million and won a World Poker Tour title and two coveted World Series of Poker bracelets.
In the high-stakes world of professional poker, mental acuity is as critical as a strong hand. Players must navigate the psychological warfare of bluffing, reading opponents, and managing the emotional highs and lows of each card turn.
We discuss the psychological aspects of poker, the mental techniques that separate the good from the great, and how mastering the mind can be the ultimate edge in one of the world’s most competitive arenas.
But behind every great player is a solid mental game honed through hours of practice and expert guidance. So even if you’re not a poker player, there is a lot we can learn from Moorman’s mindset. As a mind coach to elite athletes, I help them unlock new levels of focus, resilience, and peak performance. Non-poker players have also used these tools to create richness in their lives.
Successful people are not afraid to discover just how much higher they can climb. Mind coaching is not for those who lack mental strength; it is for those who have already proven their resilience in poker, or in any other endevour. I apply a synthesis of techniques and therapies such as self-hypnosis, meditation, Zen philosophy, universal laws, neurolinguistic programing, havening and others to create the peak performance mindset. You can find many of these techniques on my website and in my books.
In the Psychoic Revolution, I explain the science and origin of psychosis in the animal kingdom and in us humans, and my conclusion is that we all suffer mildly from a permanent and probably incurable loss of contact with reality. As a result of these delusions many have lost the ability to recognise their intuition or psychic abilities and the source of luck. But there are ways you can ignite your psychic skills and magnify your intuition for more success and a lot less stress.
Several people have asked me to explain the title The Psychoic Revolution. To the best of my knowledge the word psychoic did not previously exist, although I am well aware that nothing is ever unique. So, apologies to anybody else who might have used this word before I did. I chose this word because I believe it to be “the sweet spot of peak performance that makes people lucky and lives somewhere between the psychotic and psychic state of mind”.
For those who do lack mental strength and have self limiting beliefs, we begin by embibing the power of balancing the conscious mind with the unconscious mind and managing the ego which is the most challenging part for most people.
If you really want to spend a little time daily to practice my techniques, my course, Zen and the Art of Being Smart is for you. It will help balance your speech to achieve more positive consequences and enhance your persuasion skills and communication skills.
