Synchronicity, AI, and Mastering the Mind

Hello everyone, let’s get going.

I hope this newsletter finds you ready to glide through life like a swan on a calm lake—and definitely not skating down a black run in an out-of-control wheelie bin in a storm!

As we continue our journey into the profound teachings of Zen philosophy and NLP, I have some fascinating new insights to share with you this week to help you hit that sweet spot of mind, body, and soul.

🧠 Beyond Chance: The Collective Unconscious & Psychoic Luck

In this episode of Zen and the Art of NLP, we dove bravely into the profound depths of the brain. We explored the concept of “Psychoic Luck” and Carl Jung’s collective unconscious—the universal, inherited reservoir of human experience that is quite literally a part of our DNA.

As Jung noted, “Synchronicity is an ever-present reality for those who have eyes to see.” Another word for synchronicity is luck. When you learn how to quiet down the incessant, overcritical demands of the conscious mind, your unconscious mind finally has room to breathe, and you start seeing the luck that has been around you all along.

I’ve included a powerful 4-stage guided meditation to help you drop your baggage and enter the exciting world of possibilities. You can watch the full episode here:

♠️ Creating Your Own Luck: Poker Genius

Speaking of luck and synchronicity, navigating the unpredictable is something my elite poker clients know all about. But is it just chance, or is it a focused awareness that allows them to spot opportunities?

In my book, Poker Genius, I break down how the principles of NLP and Zen philosophy apply to the highest-stakes environments in the world. When someone approaches a situation calmly and with focused awareness, they enter the home of peak performance and the source of massive results. You don’t have to be a card player to benefit—these strategies for emotional control and intuitive decision-making apply to whatever game you happen to be playing in life.

🤖 The AI Paradox: Why We Might Get Busier

So, how do we find this quiet space to think in a rapidly changing, technology-driven world? I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Oxford economist and historian Professor Carl Benedikt Frey for The European.

We discussed a fascinating paradox: despite promises that Artificial Intelligence will free up our time, it may actually leave us busier than ever. Professor Frey suggests we are moving towards a “self-service society,” where AI gives us the tools to do our own taxes, diagnose our own ailments, and fix our own boilers rather than calling professionals.

The biggest takeaway? As AI grows more powerful, the value of human judgment, discernment, and original thought only increases. Now, more than ever, we must ruthlessly prioritize and fiercely protect our time to simply sit and think.

Before I leave you to enjoy the rest of your week, I encourage you to take three deep breaths. Focus on your out-breath—which lets go of toxins and negative emotions—and simply say to yourself: “Let go.”

Trust your hidden wisdom to do the heavy lifting for you today, and remember to have almost too much fun.

Wishing you, as always, a lot more success with a lot less stress.

Warmly,

Doc Steve
