Balancing the Conscious Mind, Unconscious Mind, and the Ego

by | Jun 14, 2024 | Articles, Hypnotherapy, Mind, NLP, Podcasts

Today’s headline topic is the power of balancing the conscious mind with the unconscious mind and managing the ego which is the most challenging part for most people.

Get this right and you will soar like an eagle. Get this wrong and life could be very challenging and not much fun.

The Conscious Mind:

Picture the conscious mind as the visible tip of an iceberg, where your current thoughts, feelings, and sensations reside, like the sunlit surface of the sea. You’re aware of what you’re thinking about, what you’re feeling right now, and what you’re perceiving through your senses. This is where you make conscious decisions, solve problems, and analyze information.

The Unconscious Mind:

This is the vast, mysterious underwater part of the iceberg. It contains everything you’re not currently aware of but that still influences you. This includes: Memories, both positive and negative, that may be tucked away. Deep-seated emotions and motivations. Learned habits and behaviors. Unconscious biases that shape your perceptions.

The Ego:

The ego acts as a mediator between the conscious and unconscious mind. It’s part of the conscious mind that tries to satisfy our needs and desires while following the rules of the real world. The ego helps us form our sense of self-identity and navigate social situations.

If you can balance the conflicting demands of your unconscious mind, conscious mind and ego it becomes possible to manifest abundant health wealth and happiness.

In last week’s Transformational Talk Network show, I have presented a powerful psychotherapy tool for achieving this balance.

The three steps can also be employed by therapists and coaches who want to reach their clients’ subconscious mind with an aim to solve problems, feel better and be better.

The conscious mind has limitations not least it can only hold a small amount of information. Some experts say, only seven thoughts at a time.

The ego is also not all-powerful, even though it believes itself to be. The ego can hijack our creative thoughts and destroy them.

The unconscious mind is vastly more powerful than the conscious mind and the ego. It can take these same creative thoughts and rather than destroying them it, process them and then presents them in such a compelling way to another part of our conscious mind, that we start to know what we know, rather than think what we know. This is the part of our brain which is not controlled by the ego.

Accessing and working with your unconscious mind is made possible by establishing the important balance of mind, body, and soul. You do not have to have balance in all three areas but it makes life a lot easier and much less stressful if you do.

In my book, Push at Open Doors, I show you how to use your mind more effectively. Surprisingly it is a lot easier than you might expect.

push at open doors by dr stephen simpson

We can all think of times in the past when doors opened so effortlessly for us, as if by magic, and can remember with joy the priceless treasures that were waiting on the other side. Unfortunately we can also remember the many other doors that remained closed, despite our best efforts to prise them open. In the book, you will discover mindfulness techniques for building what you want, rather than accepting the demands that your ego and conscious mind imposes on you.

Push at Open Doors

Some my protocols and therapies to establish this vital balance include Mindset CoachingNLP CoachingHypnotherapyBioresonance TherapyReconnective Healing TherapyHavening Therapy and the 3 Principles Therapy which I have developed and worked with for over 15 years now.

As always, please feel free to write to me if you have any questions.

More time, more freedom, more income, more impact – more of what you’ve always deserved.

I’ll catch you there 🙂
